The NSW Quad Bike Safety Improvement Program was launched in July 2016 offering eligible farmers and their workers rebates in implementing safety measures around the use of quad bikes on farms.
Tocal is delivering training as part of this program. So far 1,696 farmers around NSW have taken part in this subsidised training, with even experienced operators saying it has made them change the way they use quad bikes.
The safety program includes the Operate quad bikes course and the Operate side-by-side utility vehicles course, which cover selecting a suitable vehicle for the job, safety checking and basic maintenance, operating it safely in a range of situations with different loads, and advanced riding techniques on slopes and rough terrain.
New measures for COVID-19 safety have been introduced for training delivered through the adult education program.
