Is this course right for me?

Before registering, check that this course suits you. You’ll need to be 18 or older and hold a current Class C driver licence. You’ll also need to complete the compulsory online pre-course learning before attending the practical workshop. The course includes practical outdoor work, including getting on and off the telehandler, operating the machine and moving materials. This course covers the skills and knowledge required to operate a telehandler, including the use of attachments, safe driving and operation.

This course is a blend of online and face-to-face training.
  • Pre-workshop online component
  • 1 full day practical workshop
  • This course is delivered using both indoor instruction and outdoor practical work (proper outdoor work wear is required)

Participants must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older and hold a current Class C Driver's Licence (SafeWork NSW requirement).
  • Have the physical capability to safely operate a telehandler, including entering and exiting the vehicle, and monitoring the environment for hazards.
  • Have mental alertness and the ability to follow complex safety instructions.
  • Not have disqualifying medical conditions that could impair operation or endanger personnel.
  • Complete pre-course work online prior to attending the practical workshop.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Capability Requirements:

  • Reading: Checking and interpreting data and safety instructions.
  • Writing: Completing a closed-book examination for SafeWork NSW (if applying for a licence).
  • Numeracy: Ability to perform basic calculations relating to lift requirements, such as load weight and characteristics.
  • Oral Communication/Hearing: Maintaining communication with the instructor, following safety instructions, and answering verbal questions.
  • Digital Literacy: Basic computer skills to complete online pre-course work prior to attending the practical workshop.
