About this course

The better you know how to operate and maintain a tractor, the safer and more productive your farm will be. Learn about how to set up tractors for your business, become familiar with the controls of tractors, and learn how tractors affect biosecurity.

These courses aim to develop knowledge and skills in:
  • Safely operating tractors with or without attached equipment
  • Selecting, attaching, removing, testing and using three-point linkages, power take off driven and trailed implements
  • Using safe towing practices
  • Operate tractor on incline and off-road surfaces

    Day 1

  • Hazard, risk and control options
  • Perform pre-start checks on unfamiliar tractor
  • Attach, reverse and remove a trailed implement
  • Attach and remove a 3-point linkage implement
  • Attach and remove implement fitted with remote hydraulics
  • Attach, operate and remove PTO driven implement
  • Operate a tractor and implement in field condition
  • Day 2

  • Perform pre-start checks on unfamiliar tractor
  • Operate a tractor and implement in field condition
  • Remove attachments, park tractors and review course
  • review course

Participants must be 16 years old or over.
