13 September, 2021

We deeply regret that Tocal College is unable to conduct its live Open Days, originally planned for September 24 and October 1, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

While we believe there is nothing quite as good as visiting us in person, we are developing online material that will showcase what a special learning and growing experience Tocal is! In coming weeks this content will be made available, in addition to the website information for Future Students, already available. It will include recorded virtual tours, interviews, demonstrations and information presentations.

Unfortunately live, virtual, Open Day events on the original dates are not possible as our staff will be busy training and caring for students. Our full-time students have been restricted on campus to enable a COVID-safe training bubble that staff will continue to support over the coming weeks, including through the school holidays. By doing this we expect students will be able to complete their course slightly earlier than normal, just as occurred for our Cert IV in Agriculture students. The majority of these were able to depart from their “Tocal Bubble”, under COVID-19 safe protocols, for Off Campus Placements from 3rd of September. Employers have already expressed gratitude for their work and have indicated good job prospects will follow.

Future opportunities to visit Tocal:

As we realise how valuable it is to be able to visit the College we will continue to look for the first opportunity to reopen to individuals, families and small groups. They will then be welcome to inspect the campus and farms, or meet with staff.

Applications:

Applications are open. Online applications are non-binding, but allow us to be in contact with you with more information about the application process and to also answer specific questions. You are therefore encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Interviews:

In the meantime, those that would like to have a phone or video interview as part of the application process can contact the Student Administration Officer, Karen at tocalyouth.ed@dpi.nsw.gov.au to organise an appointment.

For further information about the cancelled Open Days, or the application process, please email the Deputy Principal, James @ james.hooke@dpi.nsw.gov.au.
