This is a two-day workshop consisting of interactive classroom and field sessions.

Participants must:

  • Be involved in the viticulture industry (such as vineyard owners, managers, agronomists, supervisors, or farm hands).
  • Have the physical capability to undertake practical outdoor tasks, including walking through vine rows, inspecting undervine areas, and conducting field sampling or monitoring.
  • Be comfortable participating in practical vineyard activities, group discussions, and field evaluations.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Capability Requirements

To complete this course successfully, participants will need:

  • Reading: Interpreting weed identification guides, herbicide product labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), spray calibration charts, and environmental safety regulations.
  • Writing: Completing weed monitoring logs, herbicide application records, spray calibration worksheets, and control evaluation reports.
  • Numeracy: Performing basic calculations relating to weed density counts, herbicide dilution rates, water volume calculations, coverage area estimates, and calibration metrics.
  • Oral Communication & Hearing: Communicating effectively with vineyard managers, supervisors, and agronomists, reporting weed control results, and following safety instructions in the field.
  • Digital Literacy: Basic computer or smartphone skills.
