This is a two-day workshop consisting of interactive classroom and field sessions.

  • Mix of classroom and hands-on outdoor activities.
  • Learning resources will be provided

Participants must:

  • Have the physical capability to undertake outdoor farm activities, including walking across uneven paddock terrain, as well as standing and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in varying environmental conditions and following safety directions from instructors.
  • Be involved in property management, agriculture, landcare, or farm operations (or seeking to enter the industry).

Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Capability Requirements

To complete this course successfully, participants will need:

  • Reading: Interpreting weed identification charts, chemical/herbicide product labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and local weed management plans.
  • Writing: Completing weed monitoring logs, field mapping notes, herbicide application records, and risk assessment forms.
  • Numeracy: Performing basic calculations relating to weed infestation density, cost-benefit estimates for control options, water/chemical dilution rates, and target area measurements.
  • Oral Communication & Hearing: Communicating effectively with property managers and instructors, reporting weed outbreaks, and following safety briefings in the field.
  • Digital Literacy: Basic computer or smartphone skills
