The Tocal Beekeepers’ Field Day is an entirely virtual event on Saturday 17th October 2020 streamed through Facebook and YouTube!

The Tocal Beekeepers' Field Day has been running for 41 years. It is run in collaboration between the NSW Department of Primary Industries, Tocal CollegeAmateur Beekeepers Association of NSWHunter Valley Amateur Beekeepers Association, Hunter Valley Branch of the NSW Apiarists Association and Wheen Bee Foundation.

Starting from 9 am, there will be a full program of informative presentations, Q&A sessions, beekeeping demonstrations, honey competition results and much more.

Just some of the speakers to be featured on the day include:

  • Jamie Ellis - University of Florida
  • Clare Densley - Buckfast Abbey Beekeepers
  • Madlen Kratz - NSW DPI Honey Bee Industry Development Officer
  • Elizabeth Frost - NSW DPI Technical Specialist Honey Bees
  • Rod Bourke and Mark Page - NSW DPI Biosecurity Officers.

Honey Competition
  • Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Tocal College honey competition will be ‘contactless’.
  • All entries must be posted to Tocal College for judging in advance of the Field day.
  • Entries must be received by close of business Tuesday 6 October 2020.
  • No entries will be accepted after this date.  All entries must be posted.
  • Winners will be announced during the Field day.
  • The entry fee $5 per entry.
