About this course

The better you know how to operate and maintain a tractor, the safer and more productive your farm will be. Learn about how to set up tractors for your business, become familiar with the controls of tractors, and learn how tractors affect biosecurity.

These courses aim to develop knowledge and skills in:
  • Operating a tractor and the use of maintenance manuals
  • attaching equipment, load limits & distinguishing characteristics of individual tractors
  • effects of varying terrains
  • duty of care to self, others and the environment
  • WHS & Biosecurity procedures

Details

Day one

  • Hazard, risk and control options
  • Perform pre-start checks on unfamiliar tractor
  • Daily servicing of a tractor and perform minor maintenance
  • Drive a tractor (basic)
  • Clean, decontaminate, secure and store tractor

Day two

  • Perform Hazard, risk and control options, pre-start checks, perform daily servicing and perform minor maintenance
  • Drive a tractor (basic)
  • Attach and remove implements and attachments
  • Park and secure tractor
  • Review course

Participants must be 16 years old or over.

This course is mapped to the national unit of competency AHCMOM202 Operate Tractors.
