We invest our time and energy in industry and community boards because we want to see them functioning well. This training will help you achieve this goal!

This course is for cotton and grains industry personnel who want to contribute to industry and community committees, organisations and boards. It focuses on how to effectively manage meetings and monitor performance.

In the online sessions, conversations will focus around board member responsibilities and how we undertake our roles, working within organisational structures, and what requirements need to be considered when entering into contracts for funding or staff. There will be an opportunity to share your own experiences to date, as well as to hear from industry leaders. There will be opportunities to implement new skills and ideas you have learnt.

Julia Spicer - Trainer

Julia Spicer is the founder of Engage & Create Consulting based in Goondiwindi. Julia was named in the Top 100 most influential women in 2018 by the Australian Financial Review. Julia has completed the AICD Company Directors Course as part of a Federal Government regional diversity bursary.

Julia has held many roles and positions on boards including President of Care Goondiwindi and a board member for Queensland Small Business Advisory Council, Regional Development Australia for Darling Downs South West Queensland, Tie Up The Black Dog Committee and Rural Business Collective Australia.

  • BSBGOV405 -  Undertake the roles and responsibilities of committee or board members

Successful completion of assessment tasks will result in achieving a Statement of Attainment containing units of competency that can contribute to a nationally-recognised qualification.
