About this course

Successful completion of training and assessment qualifications means that you are eligible to train and assess in the Vocational Education and Training system. Depending on the course you select, you can gain knowledge and skills in designing, developing, and delivering training programs, as well as designing, developing, and conducting assessments.

Training course options

It is now a requirement that, to undertake this course, you must hold a VET qualification OR have extensive industry experience in the field in which you intend to train and assess.

If you do not hold an industry qualification for the qualification/course you intend to train, you will be asked to supply (before payment and course commencement):

  • Evidence of extensive experience in the industry
  • Evidence of current industry experience
  • Third-party support for your industry experience.

The 40 week blended delivery program comprises:

  • Four online courses (completed before workshop 1)
  • 4-day Workshop 1
  • Two online courses (completed before workshop 2)
  • 4-day Workshop 2
  • Online support.

2020 Workshop dates and locations:

  • Yanco: 4-7 February and 2-5 June
  • Orange: 18-21 February and 16-19 June
  • Sydney: 24-27 March and 21-24 July
  • Tamworth: 21-24 April and 18-21 August
  • Albury: 12-15 May and 22-25 September
  • Tocal: 4-7 August and 1-4 December

We offer flexible delivery options for the following skill sets:

  • Trainer-presenter skill set
  • Workplace supervisor skill set
  • Assessor skill set

We offer two online upgrade options if you currently hold TAE40110.

Option 1

To be compliant with the Standards for RTOs 2015 (able to deliver accredited training and conduct assessments) but not hold the current TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, you need to:

  • hold TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or gain TAELLN401 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills, and
  • hold TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools or TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools or gain TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools.

Both TAELLN401 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills and TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools are offered online.

Option 2

To upgrade from TAE40110 to TAE40116, you need to:

  • hold TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or gain TAELLN401 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills, and
  • hold TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools or TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools or gain TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
  • gain TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation
  • gain TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities.

This upgrade can be completed fully online or by blended delivery, completing the TAEASS units during a full qualification workshop 2.

Recognition of prior learning is a process which counts your current experience, skills and knowledge towards a nationally recognised qualification

You are required to gather evidence and create a portfolio which addresses each unit to achieve formal recognition of your current skills and knowledge.
