Complete the two (2) Foundation Courses from Animal Health Australia and Plant Health Australia. These provide an informative introduction to the operation of plant pest and animal disease biosecurity emergency responses.

There will be a face-to-face workshop where jurisdiction-specific information will be covered, and the final assessment for the units of competency AHCBER402 Carry out field surveillance for a specific emergency disease or plant pest and AHCBIO302 Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs will take place. Your trainer will provide details of the timing and location of this workshop.

Biosecurity Emergency Response Manager
This skill set provides the skills and knowledge required to manage biosecurity emergency response operations, in either field or control/coordination centre environments.
Biosecurity Infected Premises Supervision
This skill set provides the skills and knowledge required to supervise others in a range of activities required on infected premises and applies to personnel who have been appointed or engaged to undertake a role within an emergency animal disease or emergency plant pest response.
Biosecurity Response Public Information Management
This skill set provides the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage or carry out duties within the public information function during a biosecurity emergency response.
Biosecurity Emergency Responder
This skill set provides the skills and knowledge required to undertake the duties of a biosecurity responder in biosecurity emergency response operations, in either field or control/coordination centre environments.
Certificate III in Public Safety – Operations
The PUA33112 Certificate III in Public Safety (Biosecurity Response Operations) has five core units of competency and five elective units. The core units are covered by four online modules followed by a face-to-face workshop.
Biosecurity Movement Control
This skill set provides the skills and knowledge required to implement appropriate procedures to restrict the movement of vehicles, personnel, products, livestock and plant material in relation to managing an emergency animal disease or emergency plant pest incursion.
