Skills recognition (recognition of prior learning)
Who are we?
Tocal College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) specialising in agricultural and land management subjects. The awards we offer are from Rural Production and Conservation and Land Management National Training Packages and are recognised throughout Australia.
What do we offer?
Through our recognition of prior learning (RPL) program we can offer credit towards several units of work or full qualifications in agriculture, horticulture, conservation and land management at Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma level. Find out more.
How do we do it?
You can choose to prepare your case yourself and we will assess it in a desk audit, or we will come to you for a face-to-face interview.
It was fantastic that the Skills Recognition staff came to my town instead of my having to lug ‘anything I might need’ half way across the state. It was much less stressful this way. Thank you.
Our track record
We have interviewed RPL cases throughout Australia since 1996. We have graduated more than 600 students by RPL and have worked with groups, organisations and individuals as diverse as:
- Individual farmers in dairying, beef, horticulture, cropping enterprises
- Bush regenerators and traditional land custodians
- CMA facilitators
- NRM specialists
- Australian Institute of Science and Technology
- Animal Health Australia
- Cotton Australia
- Catchment Management Authorities
- Weeds officers and Vertebrate Pest officers
- Livestock, Health and Pest Authority (LHPA) rangers
What do our clients say?
Thanks for your support and patience in guiding me through the process.
It’s a great way to achieve results if you have prior qualifications/experience.
I appreciate the availability of the skills recognition process, as it allows us to gain qualifications which otherwise we would not have the opportunity to do.
What does it cost?
Current fees for desk audits and interviews

Some feedback ...
Initially I thought the task too daunting and the evidence too elusive for me to produce. The help, encouragement and advice offered was most beneficial.
By using the handbook and other printed material, I was able to provide everything that was necessary, which resulted in a very relaxed and smooth-running interview.
