Known species: Seven species are known, variously distributed across all mainland Australian states.

Comments: Medium sized to large species (6-14mm in length) including E. fenestrata and E. distincta which are two of the most common and best known eurymelids. These two species are closely related to each other and differ in appearance only in the amount of reddish or cream colouring around the dorsum and base of the tegmina. The other five species are not common although being distributed in southeastern Australia where considerable collecting activity has been undertaken. The reticulated venation on the apical portion of the tegmina assists in identifying the species of the genus.

Eurymela suffusus Walker (1851) was synonymised with E. fenestrata by Evans (1933) but Walker (1858b) also refers to E. suffusus. Metcalf (1965) determined that this is not the same species as E. suffusus Walker (1851) and created the name E. walkeri for E. suffusus Walker (1858b). The status of these names needs to be confirmed since no locality, other than "Australia" is known for E. walkeri and no further specimens appear to have been collected.
